More info:
Both one-day workshops will be a balance of absorbing our surroundings through cliff-top walks, low-tide meanderings, as well as drawing from life, creating either monotypes or drypoint prints.
A great re-introduction for those who haven't done any art work for a while but also suited to working artists for a challenge, to push yourself, push through creative blocks and have an intensive weekend of production. There is no pressure on final products as the processes themselves will be invigorating and refreshing.
Both days will be led, to a degree, by the weather and circumstances of the cliffs and tides, which is a wonderful experience, bringing up all sorts of surprising creative elements.
I will be teaching for the weekend and since it is a small group (maximum 10 people) you will get a good amount of individual attention.
We will explore technical, expressive and experimental drawing to strengthen our eye-hand coordination and loosen up. Later we will be producing monotype prints using fast, lucid hand-movements. On the Sunday there will be the chance to add monotype with dry-point. There will be opportunities to be playful and have plenty of fun! I have lots of other ideas up my sleeve but you will have to come along to find out!

Outline of Saturday 13th Sept: The morning will consist of a variety of drawing activities using diverse locally found materials, as you are led on a short beach ‘walk and draw’. After a print demonstration, post lunch, you will be released on the cliff-tops to do meditative monoprinting. You will go home with drawings and prints, invigorated and full of sea air.
Outline of Sunday 14th Sept: Using different techniques from the Saturday workshop, the morning will be spent on the beach drawing on a smaller scale, also using the written word and printing with recycled materials using a mixture of drypoint and monotype methods. After lunch we will draw by the sea on a large scale, using experimental and experiential techniques, working with our whole bodies and connecting with our surroundings. You will go home with drawings and prints, invigorated and full of sea air.
NB
* you will need to be prepared to draw and walk in all weathers.
* bring a light stool or chair if you do not want to stand or sit on the ground to draw.
